An example from the Gospels that shows the importance of forgiveness:
The parable Luke 15:11-32 is an example of forgiveness. This parable of the lost son is also known as the prodigal son. This parable tells of a son, the “prodigal son” who goes to his father and demands his inheritance early. He took his money given to him by his father and went to the "big city" where he continued to spend it all. Eventually the son was starving and had to take a job at a local farm. He even begins to dine with the pigs with their slop. It dawns on him as he realises that he need return to his father. He could ask to be one of his father's servants because his father feeds them well. He questioned whether his father would allow this. As the gate opens his father sees him and runs out to greet him. The father announces that a feast be prepared for the lost son who has returned.
The moral is that even those who stumble, fall or sin will always be received by God with open arms, as they realise the error of their ways, God will always be there to forgiven them.
